MOOSH.net as a domain was registered in
2000. However, the name derived from a private MUSH
that has been operating for nearly a decade. The
machine running the web server is a hardy little Cyrix 300
MHz machine with 128 megs of RAM
and 16 gigabytes of disk. Its purpose is rather
simple. It runs the MOOSH.net website, the MOOSH
MUSH, and it acts as a development platform for linux based
applications. Currently, the machine runs the Debian Linux distribution
and uses Apache as its
web server. This site, in its many incarnations has
been around since the mid 1990's, mostly under names
provided by the owner of the strange.com domain.
Primarly, it has been lost.strange.com and
gargoyle.strange.com both of which continue to exist as
pointers today.
The box has evolved over the years and been in many shapes
and forms. At one point, it was housed at the University of Denver and
co-located at Denver
Online. Today, it sits in a small basement room
connected to a 512 kbps SDSL line.
Currently, I work for PercepTek
a firm that works in the area of autonomous
vehicles focusing on control, architecture, and
perception. ,
